Kizhi is a south indian word, meaning poultice or potaly. Kizhi massage therapy is a type of ayurvedic treatment with a poultice filled with medicated oil, powder etc. The medicated ingredients are put in a muslin cloth to form boluses.
The warm poultice is applied on the whole or specific part of the body. The warmth of the poultice with medicated herbs makes the part sweat. It is also called pinda swedana. These poultice is applied in various part of body with varying degrees of pressure. It depends upon the type of the ailment need to be cured.
